first post. (wanted a more compelling title, but that was all I could come up with)

I see two opposing dangers in beginning a blog. First, it could become one more distraction in my already-prone-to-distraction world. If a distraction, then this little page could be updated with a ferocious regularity. The other danger is that I may post so rarely that a poor reader could wonder if I've fallen off the earth. Considering my history of sporadic journal entries, this danger is the likelier by far.

So, for better or worse, here's the first...and perhaps the last.
